The Movement of Water

Body like the mountain, mind like the sky,
breath like the ocean

This body of work explores themes of home and embodiment through the elemental relationship between land and water. The paintings are infused with earth pigments collected from beaches, rivers, and mountains throughout Washington State anchoring them to this landscape.

Water is the medium for dissolution, distillation, and flow. The forms are inspired by water’s pilgrimage from glacial origins in the mountains, through rivers, and into the land, mirroring our internal cycles of flow and transformation. The mountains — where land and sky meet — become a meeting place of body and mind, inviting continual return and connection.
